Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 27, 2026

This policy explains how Rubik's Roulette, the owner and data controller of rubiksroulette.com, handles information when you use the game.

Information we handle

  • Accounts: if you sign in with Google OAuth through Netlify Identity, we receive your email address and account identifier.
  • Game and social features: we store your nickname, scores, leaderboard entries, tutorial status, friend relationships, blocks, duel invitations, and duel results.
  • Security: we process IP addresses and request details to rate-limit requests, prevent abuse, and protect the service.
  • Your browser: essential authentication cookies keep you signed in. Local storage keeps settings, tutorial status, a nickname cache, and active-duel recovery information on your device.

You can play as a guest without an account. Signing in is required for ranked scores, friends, and account-to-account duels.

How and why we use it

We use this information to provide accounts, leaderboards, friends and duels; remember settings; secure and maintain the game; prevent abuse; show and measure advertising; and meet legal obligations. Where applicable, we rely on performing our service, our legitimate interests in operating and securing it, consent for non-essential advertising technologies, and compliance with law.

Nicknames and scores are public on leaderboards. Friends and duel participants can see the nicknames and match information needed for those features. Your email address is not displayed publicly.

Service providers

  • Netlify hosts the site, database, and Identity service.
  • Google provides OAuth sign-in and AdSense advertising. AdSense may use cookies or similar technologies and process device, browser, IP, approximate location, and ad-interaction data to deliver, secure, personalize where permitted, and measure ads. Learn more in Google's partner-sites policy and manage personalization in Google Ads Settings.
  • Resend processes the recipient's email address and duel invitation contents when you choose to send a duel invitation by email.

These providers may process information in other countries under their own privacy terms and applicable transfer safeguards. We may also disclose information when legally required or necessary to protect users, the service, or our rights. We do not sell personal information.

Cookies, choices, and retention

You can sign out, clear cookies or local storage in your browser, and use any advertising consent controls shown on the site. Blocking essential cookies may prevent sign-in. Local storage remains until you clear it. We keep account, gameplay, security, friend, and duel data only as long as reasonably needed to provide and protect the service, resolve disputes, and comply with law.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may ask to access, correct, delete, or restrict use of your personal information, object to certain processing, withdraw consent, or receive a portable copy. You may also complain to your local data protection authority. Signed-in players can delete their account from Account in the game menu, which removes nickname, scores, friends, duels, and sign-in data for this site. You can also email rubiksroulette@gmail.com.

Children and changes

The game is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. Contact us if you believe a child has provided it. We may update this policy and will change the date above when we do.
